Minutes—June 23, 2009
The Jasper City Council met in special session on Tuesday,
June 23, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. at the Jasper City Park. Council members
present included Frank Shumard, Russell Selvey, Mike Smith and Josh Ghumm.
Mayor Paul Nelson presided over the meeting. Trenia Fullerton, City Collector recorded the minutes in the absence of Mary McNary, City Clerk.
This meeting was called to discuss plans for curb/guttering, sidewalks and asphalt on Grand Ave. between First St. and the railroad tracks. Discussion was conducted.
Frank Shumard moved and Josh Ghumm seconded the motion to let bids for the installation of 6 ft. sidewalk from the intersection of Park St. and Grand west to the last pole before the tracks on both the north and south side of Grand. The vote was 4-0 in favor.
Frank Shumard moved and Mike Smith seconded the motion to remove both trees that are on the right of way and outside the existing sidewalk on the north side of Grand between Park St. and the railroad tracks. The vote was 4-0 in favor.
Josh Ghumm moved and Frank Shumard seconded the motion to let bids for the installation of 12 ft. sidewalk on both the north and south sides of Grand from Park St. east to First St. The street side edge of this sidewalk will function as the curb for this section of sidewalk. The vote was 4-0 in favor.
Russell Selvey moved and Josh Ghumm seconded the motion to adjourn. The vote was 4-0 in favor. Meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
